I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

An oEmbed endpoint would be nice (http://www.oembed.com/). It could also save some people the trouble of scraping the page for OpenGraph metadata, saving everyone some bandwidth.

Aside: I really enjoy this service and hope more people take to using it. Thanks.

      • Units issue with eagle2kicad.ulp

When using eagle2kicad.ulp to convert a schematic made with Eagle 2.6.4 for use with Kicad build 2013-07-14, I had to change the value of g_Fact from 254 to (254 * 32). Before I did that, the resulting Kicad schematic was much too large for the page, and the component pins did not mesh with the component bodies.

        • include support for gEDA

          I note your comment here:

          http://www.circuitbee.com/about

"Currently we only support KiCad schematics since we couldn't find good documentation on the file formats used by other software. We intend to expand to other popular schematic capture software ... "

gEDA file formats are well documented:

On your site, you speak of giving people code they can embed in there web pages. Can I embed an example of CircuitBee at work on my page, using one of the "public circuits" as an example of what you do?

Thanks for considering... and thanks for what CircuitBee does!! I hope Google buys you soon and gives you the money to go on to a new great idea! I'd "speak to them", but I don't think my 5…

              • Fix zoom buttons on iOS devices

The zoom slider works but the zoom buttons do not seem to work with an iPad in fullscreen mode.

Drag-pan works; pinch-zoom would be nice but might not be worth the development time if there isn't a cross platform way to do this.

When I add a new circuit, it would be nice if it could suggest libraries based on the parts I've used. Nothing more complex than "The parts you've used appear in these libraries."

                      • Specificy zoom location in embedded code

I want to embedd a larger circuit in my blog, but want to refer to seperate parts of it. Instead of creating multiple circuits, each identical with different thumbnails, it would be better to allow the embed code to specify the zoom? Eg the embeddable code is dynamic based on the current zoom. then all my different embeded circuits can link ot the same circuit on circuit bee.

This is definitely planned, and soon. We will improve the embed code block to allow you to set the position and zoom level.

We are also considering implementing a little bit of JavaScript you can include into your page that will allow you to markup links within your page content that will navigate the embedded schematic to a specific location/zoom/component.

This should solve all the issues you have listed here.

                          Thanks for the suggestions!

I don't know if that is a good idea, but I would find it great to have a system where I can put multiple versions of a circuit, because sometimes there are small mistakes. So it would be good, if there is a slider which you can move to browse old versions.

                              Hi Leo,

Yes this is definitely planned. We just recently added support to upload new versions of a schematic. We just need to build an interface to allow you to browse through older versions of the schematic as well.

This is possibly going to be a pro feature, though we’re not yet sure.

Please let us know what you think.

We’ll be adding this sometime soon, but we want to make sure it integrates nicely with the upcoming Google Site Search.

We definitely want categories/tags for schematics, but we’re not yet sure Ratings are the right approach here. Do we really want to rate down ‘bad’ schematics, rather than to show how they can be made into ‘good’ schematics?

                                  • Offer membership to raise money!

GitHub and similar sites make money by requiring people to host public projects if they're using the free service. So there's one option for fund-raising right away.

TypeKit is a subscription-based service that provides web fonts to subscribers. I wonder if you could make CircuitBee work the same way? i.e.: service is free if you just point people to the circuit here on the site (or embed a PNG/PDF), the full embedded browser would require an active subscription.

Alternately, stick up a PayPal donation link and see if you can gather enough donations in a year to buy a coffee…

                                      Hi Alex,

You are absolutely right, as soon as we’re leaving the alpha stage we will have to find some ways of monetizing the site.

A small fee for enabling public embeds of circuits might be good, but it really depends on the users and whether or not we’re providing enough value.

We have been planning some advanced features which perhaps would fall under a ‘pro’ account. We’ll have to see how this goes in the days ahead.

                                    • Add an online circuit builder + generic component library

change the page to black in order I can work online without lost my eyes!!!!
And please continue! this is a great idea.

WELL DONE! THANK YOU! This site has made my day! Thanks for thinking it up and actually making it.

                                        • Search bar and description, + other

I think a public circuit search would be a good idea. A short description about the circuit including parts/quantity used. Also include user review, rating, picture of actual made circuit. Have employees/volunteers go out and find more content. Categories circuits like for arduino and other projects.
